The Immune-Boosting Beverage to Spice Up Your Spring

The Immune-Boosting Beverage to Spice Up Your Spring

By Marley Wells

As the weather warms up, I think many of us begin to turn from warm, comforting drinks to refreshing, fun sips. However, it can be hard to find a drink without all the sugar, preservatives, and food dyes! That is why we at The Elderberry Co. wanted to make our Immunity Tea, a beloved favorite of our locals, available to all of our customers. It is the perfect beverage for sipping on in the sun, while also nourishing your body.

Our Immunity Tea Kit provides you with all the dry ingredients necessary to make a brew that boosts your health (and your mood, with how delicious it is)! Containing both elderberries and aronia berries, this tea is exceedingly high in antioxidants and minerals such as iron, potassium, zinc, and magnesium. Also, the ginger root and cinnamon provide not only added depth of flavor, but also anti-inflammatory properties and cardiovascular benefits as well. What a powerhouse– and that’s just the ingredients included in the kit!

We recommend sweetening your Immunity Tea with raw honey, which has a host of benefits itself. According to Mayo Clinic, honey is not only high in antioxidants, but is also anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. While it is most commonly used in naturopathy to treat coughs, the benefits of honey don’t stop there: honey also reduces risk of heart disease, gastrointestinal disease, and neurological disease.

How does our honey-sweetened beverage full of immune-boosting ingredients compare to the conventional sugar-laden alternatives? The CDC has stated that “People who often drink sugary drinks are more likely to face health problems, such as weight gain, obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cavities, and gout.” So, it is safe say to that that sugary drinks may be working against you and your family’s health goals.

Here is how you can brew your own Immunity Tea Kit right from the comfort of your kitchen:

  1. On a stovetop, bring 32oz of water to a simmer.
  2. Add the Immunity Tea Kit brew bag to the simmering water, and remove from heat. Let the bag steep for 10-12 minutes, depending on how strong you would like the tea to be.
  3. Remove the brew bag, squeezing to extract the best, maximum flavor.
  4. Sweeten to your taste with raw honey– we recommend 6-8 tablespoons.
  5. Add an additional 32oz of water.
  6. Enjoy warm or iced!

Hi Rosemarie!
We mark it 45 days out from the day we make it. Now, you can go past that up to a week but it’ll start to become flat tasting and lose its flavor.

How long is the tea good for once brewed and kept in the refrigerator?
Thank you
